CHANEL Cruise 2024/25 show in Hong Kong S.A.R.
On Tuesday 5th November 2024, the CHANEL Cruise 2024/25 collection made a stopover in Hong Kong.
First shown this May in Marseille, in the south of France, the collection is inspired by the codes of sport, everyday life and by all the things that invite movement. Codes of the House of CHANEL, marine and metropolitan inspirations, athletic allure imbue the different facets of the collection, presented in the corridors of the Hong Kong Design Institute, in the Tseung Kwan O district. Dedicated to education, creation and transmission, CHANEL is inaugurating a three-year partnership with this establishment that is designed to enrich the experience of students by facilitating their access to the fashion ecosystem, encouraging exchange and dialogue, and developing key skills in the fields of design and savoir-faire.
On arrival, guests discovered an immersive space showing the film Modern Flirt, made especially for the occasion by French director and close friend of the House Audrey Diwan, starring Hong Kong actress Angela Yuen and French actor Benjamin Voisin. On the forecourt of the Hong Kong Design Institute, “Radio CHANEL” brought emerging artists and major figures from the Hong Kong scene together alongside ambassadors and friends of the House, for a series of dialogues on creation and transmission. Guests also stopped by the Hong Kong Design Institute gallery space for a preview of the ‘Imagine an Elsewhere’ exhibition, organised by the institution and supported by CHANEL. Featuring 16 collective works by 35 Hong Kong Design Institute students specialising in Architecture, Interior & Product Design, Communication Design, Digital Media and Fashion & Image Design, this exhibition will be open from 7th November to 31st December 2024.
The show was followed by a party at Shaw Studios, bathed in a sunset-hued atmosphere and animated with performances from friends and CHANEL ambassadors: a previously unheard duet by Angèle and Sébastien Tellier, a special performance given by dancers from Hong Kong and (LA)HORDE— the Ballet National de Marseille accompanied by actress and friend of the House Nathalie Hsu, and performances by singer Kalai and DJs Yeti Out.
The CHANEL ambassadors Penélope Cruz, G-Dragon, Whitney Peak, Angèle, Caroline de Maigret, Aokbab Chutimon and Hio Miyazawa were also present at the event, alongside major figures and emerging talents from the local cultural and artistic scenes: Chow Yun-Fat, Carina Lau, Fala Chen, Stephen Fung, Angela Yuen, Natalie Hsu, Chung Suet-Ying, Wing Shya, Man Lim-Chung, Siobhan Haughey, Wong Chi-Chung, Hins Cheung, Jay Fung, Moon Tang, Gareth T. and Panther Chan. Audrey Diwan, Margaret Zhang, Baipor, Huang Yao, Bolin Chen, Shye, Blue Pongtiwat and Marine Brutti, Jonathan Debrouwer and Arthur Harel from (LA)HORDE also attended the show.
A metropolis open to Asia and the world beyond, Hong Kong has a rich cultural heritage in domains as varied as cinema, music, dance, art and design, and an energetic creative scene in a constant state of effervescence. In a spirit of exchange, dialogue and transmission with local and international creative personalities, a programme of events surrounding the CHANEL Cruise 2024/25 show celebrates the House's longstanding links with Hong Kong.
