Saint-Gobain Architecture Student Contest 2026 Hong Kong Stage Showcases Emerging Design Talent
The Saint-Gobain Architecture Student Contest 2026 – Hong Kong Stage concluded successfully on 8th May 2026 at the Hong Kong Institute of Architects (HKIA) Premises, bringing together rising architectural talent from Hong Kong and Macau for a day of ideas, innovation, and sustainable design.
Nine university teams presented design proposals focused on the construction and renovation of a recreational area in Belgrade, Serbia. Their concepts highlighted creativity, technical thinking, and forward-looking solutions, earning praise from both the judging panel and members of the audience.
The programme also featured an expert-led panel discussion, “Sustainable Architecture: Designing Delight for Tourism & Recreational Projects.” The session offered students and guests practical insights into sustainable design strategies and examined how architecture can enrich the experience of tourism and leisure developments.
After deliberation by the jury, the winning team was announced as Lau Kai Yan Carmen, Fung Wing In Ingrid, and Liao Ho Ngai from The Chinese University of Hong Kong. The team received a prize of HK$10,000 and will represent Hong Kong at the international stage of the contest in Belgrade, Serbia, this June.
Saint-Gobain also expressed appreciation to all participants and supporting partners, including The Hong Kong Institute of Architects (HKIA), the Hong Kong Green Building Council (HKGBC), and the Architects Association of Macau (AAM), for their contributions to the event’s success.
The event closed on a positive note, with organisers looking ahead to another strong edition of the competition next year.
