China Committee: Overview of China and its interactions with Europe and the US

On 10 March 2026, we are grateful to Professor Jean-Pierre Cabestan, Senior Researcher Emeritus, CNRS, Professor Emeritus, Hong Kong Baptist University, and Senior Researcher, Asia Centre, for sharing his expertise on China’s evolving diplomatic strategies, its engagement with Europe and the USA, and the broader regional and global implications.

His insights helped participants better understand the opportunities and challenges posed by US-China relations, EU de-risking strategies, tariff debates, and market access issues.
