MK has over 30 years of experience in the planning and design of transmission and distribution power systems and networks, as well as in managing power supply and renewable energy projects.
MK is currently responsible for power demand and load forecasting, power grid and area transmission planning and renewable energy project grid connection support. This includes reviewing and preparing power network development plans to support future load growth in both old districts and new development areas, with the aim of meeting energy demands from upcoming innovation and technology hubs, industrial and commercial zones, data centres, supercomputing facilities, and housing developments particularly across Lok Ma Chau Loop (Hetao), San Tin Technopole, Sandy Ridge, and other Northern Metropolis zones.
MK works closely with government departments and authorities to enable timely power network extensions through infrastructure development and support Hong Kong’s growth. MK also provides assessments and support to enable safe and effective integration of renewable energy and waste-to-energy projects into the power grid, such as the Integrated Waste Management Facilities Phase 1 (I Park 1).
