[IN PERSON] China Committee: An overview of China and its interactions with Europe and the US
Join us to hear from Professor Cabestan while we examine Europe–China relations from economic and commercial perspectives.

The discussion will begin with an overview of China’s current position and its evolving diplomatic strategies, before taking a closer look at how China engages with Europe. While China has expressed interest in strengthening ties with the European Union, its relationship with the United States remains a dominant focus, creating both opportunities and uncertainties for Europe. The session will also provide a regional overview of Japan and Korea, who's economic and security policies are increasingly shaped by China’s role in Asia. In addition, we will touch on global trade dynamics, including the EU’s de‑risking strategies, tariff debates, and market access issues. Given the ongoing unpredictability of US–China relations, this roundtable will explore what could be beneficial for Europe–China cooperation and what scenarios are most likely to unfold in the coming months.
