Join this session to hear from Vivian Cheung from the Airport Authority Hong Kong about 'From City Airport to Airport City'.
As one of the world’s leading airports, Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) has the strategic vision to transform from a city airport into an Airport City. The Airport City will encompass many more functions and developments than a traditional airport provides, and at the same time drive the economic growth and development in Hong Kong and the region.
The Airport City vision echoes the Outline Development Plan for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) promulgated by the Central Government in 2019. The Plan has designated Hong Kong as the GBA’s international aviation hub, reaffirming HKIA’s overall development direction and its strategic function for the GBA and the country.
To realise the Airport City vision, AAHK is investing in a series of projects, in the 10 years to 2030 to enhance the airport’s capacity and functionality, ranging from passenger services, cargo strategy, inter-modal regional connectivity to the GBA, to commercial projects including retail and hotels, etc.
