Join this supported session with the Consulate General of France in Hong Kong and Macau: “Science Talks are [Women] Talks”
Worldwide, 33% of scientific researchers are women. According to the UNESCO, by the age of 6, girls already consider boys more likely to show brilliance and more suited to “really, really smart” activities than their own gender. What could be done to improve this situation? Is the situation the same in all science fields? How does it feel to be a woman in science in 2021?
“Science Talks are [Women] talks” is a conference series designed to provide female scientists with a platform to discuss problematics specific to women in the field. In this “AI & Gender Bias?” talk, a gender approach is used to discuss the AI research field. To tackle these pressing issues, the City University of Hong Kong and the Consulate General of France invited Dr Rosa Chan and Dr Flora Vincent, two experts in the field to share their experience and question the impact of gender on AI applications in research fields such as marine microbiology and neurosciences.
For the first talk of the series, we will focus on an up-to-date topic in Hong Kong and worldwide: Artificial Intelligence (AI). In March, we have had the chance to discuss AI with Hong Kong and French experts on the occasion of the French AI & Data Week @HKU.
This time, a gender approach is used to discuss the AI research field. To tackle these pressing issues, the City University of Hong Kong and the Consulate General of France invited Dr Rosa Chan and Dr Flora Vincent, two experts in the field to share their experience and question the impact of gender on AI applications in research fields such as marine microbiology and neurosciences.
