Regent Hong Kong Earns Tuu Eco Stay Award – Leading Sustainability in Hospitality with Verified and Visible Proof
Enhancing its commitment to ESG, Regent Hong Kong has become one of the first hotels in Asia to earn the Verified Bamboo Badge from the data-backed Tuu Eco Stay Awards, which recognises operational sustainability achievements in hospitality through independently reviewed data. As one of first recipients of the new awards programme, Regent Hong Kong is at the forefront of hotels across the region leading a new approach to ESG credibility in hospitality.
A key achievement is Regent Hong Kong’s 23% reduction in electricity usage during the 2024 calendar year compared to its 2018 baseline, following the hotel’s major transformation and rebranding, with energy efficiency embedded into the renovation process.
Its integrated social impact initiatives include support of local communities through hands-on volunteering and other meaningful projects, with a 2024 achievement being the donation of nearly two tonnes of surplus food to Foodlink, a local charity that redistributes safe-to-eat food to those in need.
Regent Hong Kong has earned the Verified Bamboo Badge following its submission of six consecutive months of operational data for independent review, covering five core metrics: Energy, Water, Food, Waste, and Human Resources. All submissions were assessed by global audit and advisory network HLB to ensure transparency and accuracy.
Other ESG achievements include EarthCheck Platinum Certification, the highest level awarded in the EarthCheck programme.
