Jean-Baptiste DealFounder, The Déal Negotiation Institute
With more than 20 years of experience representing investors, buyers, vendors and government agencies in complex cross‑border deals, always with the aim of securing the best possible outcomes, he founded the Déal Negotiation Institute to empower executives to negotiate confidently across cultures, with a particular focus on France-Asia partnerships.
Born in France in 1980, Jean‑Baptiste developed an early interest in foreign cultures while travelling abroad during his university studies. Fascinated by Mandarin, he began his journey in China by studying Chinese at the Beijing Language and Culture University. He later completed an MBA at HKUST (Hong Kong).
After spending several years in Beijing, Zhejiang and Guangdong, Jean‑Baptiste moved to Hong Kong, where he has lived for more than a decade.
Passionate about negotiation, he completed several Programs on Negotiation at Harvard in the United States. His exceptional language skills and profound understanding of multiple cultures, and their differences, form the foundation of his negotiation expertise. He is trilingual in Mandarin, French and English, bringing deep cultural insight into every negotiation setting.
He is also the author of Winning With Ancient Wisdom: Negotiation Strategies from Asia and Europe and Réussir avec Sagesse : stratégies de négociation inspirées des Fables de La Fontaine, two books that translate timeless Asian and European wisdom into practical strategies for today’s executives.
