This event will provide an overview of the latest key legal challenges and opportunities resulting from doing business within the Greater Bay Area.
The "Greater Bay Area", also known as the scheme to link nine cities in Guangdong province as well as Hong Kong and Macau into an integrated business hub, has continued to advance despite the hurdles of the pandemic.
One of the key elements in this process has been the promulgation of various mediation standards within the GBA, which is a major milestone in building legal certainty, rule of law and integration within the economic hub.
Going forward with our GBA series, this event will provide an overview of the latest key legal challenges and opportunities resulting from doing business within the Greater Bay Area.
The event will begin with a keynote address delivered by Laurent Doucet (Partner, Roland Berger). We will then proceed to a table discussion moderated by Wesley Pang, Partner at Eversheds Sutherland, our committee´s Platinum Sponsor, during which we will also get an overview of the topic from the eyes of institutional as well as business actors from both sides: HKSAR and Mainland China.
The following key topics will be tackled:
- An overview of the legal risks and challenges with doing business in the GBA. For instance, contracting with onshore (PRC) and offshore (HK SAR) entities.
- A rundown on the latest PRC - HK SAR legal and regulatory framework and arrangements, in particular, the new cross-boundary mediation model rules.
- A discussion on the role of dispute resolution organisation in facilitating disputes, such as the Shenzhen Court of International Arbitration (SCIA) and the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre (HKIAC)
Once concluded, the table discussion will give way to a networking cocktail for attendees to meet and mingle with other professionals operating in the GBA.
