Danone launches the Food and Agricultural Roadmap

Collaborated with WBCSD business platform, Danone welcomes the launch of this first chapter of the Food and Agricultural Roadmap, building on the collective work done by FResH, a coalition of leading food companies across the value chain, focused on 4 fields of action: Positive nutrition, Plant-forward foods through innovation, Sustainability of Protein products and Consumer empowerment.

Danone is convinced that an in-depth transformation of our food system is needed – from farm to fork – The Roadmap sets out the overarching transformational targets, key action areas and business-led solutions required to achieve food systems change & provide healthy and sustainable diets for all by 2030 and 2050. It is a call to action for companies to provide consumers with access to healthy and sustainable diets, while supporting better consumption choices. It identifies action areas on where the food and agriculture sector, together with partners and other food players, could maximize positive impacts on food system transformation while minimizing negative effects by sharing best practices and accelerating process, product and partnership innovation.

Key battles:

  • Healthy and nutritious products (90% in healthy categories, less sugar, saturated fat and salt, more fortification), strong brands on a health mission (Alpro, Dango, Aqua, Nutricia…) healthy habits (education) and healthy choices (transparent labelling). More info here: https://bit.ly/36sSabH
  • More diverse plant-based alternatives (x3 by 2025).
  • Speed the transition towards regenerative agriculture: by 2025, 100% of our ingredients produced in France will be sourced from regenerative agriculture.
  • Halve food loss in operation by 2025 and support initiatives such as Too Good to Go to reduce food waste.
