Dear Hong Kong,

I have to admit that I was pretty intimidated when I first met you. Your imposing stature, your vertigo-inducing heights and your wild temper made me wonder if we would ever get along. Yes, I have to say that at first sight, you don’t appear to be particularly accessible or welcoming. The confined spaces you grant us and the crippling cost of living you offer make it hard to contemplate a long-lasting relationship. Fortunately, the curiosity you trigger and the uncontrollable attraction you generate makes us want to go beyond, to dig deeper.

“I get to cross paths with so many different types of people.”

What I like the most about you is your ability to bring people together. The physical proximity must play a role but more than anything else, by your side, people feel inspired, bold, fuelled by an energy that makes them believe that together, it is possible to dare, imagine, and create. An idea, a sport, a trend, a meal or a dog’s birthday, anything can be a pretext to share a moment.

So many opportunities have emerged in this fertile breeding ground. I arrived here as a tax lawyer and I am now managing a digital marketing agency called Wild. My daily work reflects, in my eyes, everything that Hong Kong can offer. I get to cross paths with so many different types of people, from fresh local entrepreneurs to leaders of established international corporations. I get to know their stories and support their dreams and ambitions.

First impressions are made quickly. Seven years later, I’m glad to say they have changed drastically.
